Classroom Update 10/9

Thanks again to all the parents who accompanied the class to Sacramento. Hopefully you have had an opportunity to rest and recuperate.

Thanks in advance to all the parents who have committed to help at this year's Carnival. There was an email sent out towards the later part of last week with how you can help.  We hope you can join us on Sunday, October 30.

Language Arts
We finished up our story, Finding the Titanic this week and cotinued to work on the process of outlining. Our next story in the anthology is an excerpt from the Little House series by Laura Ingalls Wilder, By the Shores of Silver Lake. We will do some more activities with the story this coming week before concluding this theme. We will be taking a theme skills test towards the later part of this week and results will be sent home on Friday.

Grammar work this theme has stressed sentences including subjects, predicates, and compound sentences.

Our class playperformancesof Pirates from Grammar Island will be on Thursday 10/20 and Friday 10/21 at 12:40 PM in the B-pod. We would love to have you come watch our performance. Parts will be chosen this coming week.


We will close out this chapter with the connection between multiplication and division as we work towards learning more about double digit multiplication. Please continue to practice those basic facts.


Science tests were returned home with students on Thursday of this past week.

Social Studies
Students should be continuing to work on the Social Studies outline which will be due on the day of the test, October 18.  Please continue to workon the magnificent map motif project is due on Wednesday, October 26.  Another copy of that sheet can be found here.  Speeches will be on Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday.
